Life for children in foster care is already difficult.

Children in foster care placements frequently change homes, and a year spent in one home is an uncommon luxury for many. Even when a home offers stability and a reasonable sense of belonging, more often than not there is no extra money available for anything beyond the basics of food and shelter.

This is where HelpOurKids comes in.

We provide some of “the other things” that promote a sense of normalcy. For example, we have partnered with the Community Music School of Springfield to provide children with music lessons. We’ve also supplied sporting equipment so a child could be on a team, a prom dress so that a teenager could feel just as special as her classmates, and more.  In fact, you can read more about some of the requests we have recently fulfilled by going here.

What other children might take for granted, many foster children believe is out of reach and reserved for the “normal” kids. We believe all kids should feel normal, and so we strive to help children in foster placements by helping to provide this sense of normalcy.

Requests come us directly from the social workers to help ensure confidentiality. HelpOurKids operates quickly and efficiently…

  • We respond to most requests within 24 hours, and fulfill most of them within 48 hours.
  • We follow up with the social worker to ensure our help is appropriate and to see if anything more is needed.
  • 100% of donor contributions we receive are applied towards the requests for the kids. We have no administrative or operating expenses.
